Free-agent forward Kawhi Leonard has informed the runner-up teams of his plans: He's signing with the LA Clippers, league sources told ESPN on Friday night.

The Clippers also are set to acquire All-Star forward Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder for a record-setting collection of draft choices, sources said.

Leonard, as expected, will sign a four-year, $142 million maximum contract, sources told ESPN.

He had held meetings with three teams he planned to sit down with in free agency, sources told ESPN. He met with the Lakers, Clippers and Raptors over the past week, with Toronto receiving the final meeting, sources said.

Oklahoma City will be getting a massive package of future picks as well as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Gallinari to deliver Leonard the player with whom he wanted to partner -- George, according to sources.

The Clippers will be sending the Thunder four unprotected first-round picks, one protected first-round pick and two pick swaps, league sources told ESPN.

Leonard has been recruiting George to find a way to get to the Clippers, sources said. After Leonard pushed George in that direction, George approached the Thunder and requested a trade, sources said.
Oklahoma City was left with no choice and made the best out of a difficult situation, according to sources.

Crazy! Without looking up the numbers, how did they stay under salary cap? Didn't George just sign a huge extension and have a max contract? Wild.

Amazing stuff. What a deal for the Clippers. They should be the instant favorites to win it all. Both next year, and for the next few years.

They have some amazing things going on there. They already had a good team, then added possibly the best players in the league in Leonard and a #5-10 in the league guy in George. George was an MVP candidate this year and is just hitting his prime!

All else being equal I'd prefer to sign George to a max deal then Durant and George is the second fiddle here.

Aside from the players. They also have..

-an awesome owner- Ballmer

-an awesome GM - West, maybe the best ever. Is he even the GM or just an exec.

-a proven coach- Doc RIver -who has a title and great track record.

Even the Clippers were to ever win now is the time!

They traded away Gallinari, Who was making like 20 mil a year, Plus Gilchrist.

Gotcha, that make sense.. huge contract. Crazy- so happy he didn't sign with LAL.

Side note, how does R. Westbrook feel right now? :think2:

Lmfao at all these reports the last two days.

I was saying clippers from day 1. They got one all star and that’s all it took for Kawhi to leave.

Can’t sell new balances in Toronto lol

So many terrible reports though. “It’s only between lakers and Toronto.” “Clippers are out.” “He only wants 2 years in Toronto.” “No he wants 4 years, the last report is wrong.”

Ends up at clippers.

If only we had a poster who would post Leonard and George pics. Maybe a picture of a plane leaving OKC and going to LAX. (You know a picture with the dots and all). Then we could all grasp what all this means.

Another mid major is completely done in Oklahoma City.

Harden
durant
george
westbrook

and nothing ever came of it

League would be so much better with only 12 teams.

But hey the pacers are the big winners as they just signed a back up point guard from philly to be a starter so you know.... ummm watch out.
